How to use Mojo

Mojo is a versatile groundbait that can be used on the method, as a paste, or even in stick mixes – the options are endless.

Here’s what Steve Ringer recommends:

Mixing it

“To make a great groundbait empty the bag of Mojo into a bowl and slowly add water to it a little at a time. Be careful not to add too much water! As you are trickling in the water, whisk the groundbait with your hand ensuring every part of it is thoroughly dampened.
"Leave the groundbait to rest to fully absorb the water into the particles (preferably overnight for ultimate results). The groundbait may require additional water at this point. Finally, riddle to remove the lumps and you have the perfect mix.”

The Method

“One of the most productive approaches for carp and bream is the Method feeder and Mojo is perfect for this tactic. Take a flat Method feeder and push some groundbait between the ribs so the frame just emerges. Place your hookbait on top of the feeder in the centre of the groundbait.  And finally, cover the hookbait with a small amount of Mojo and press into place.”

Paste

“Mojo makes a great paste by taking a small bowl of water and then slowly adding the groundbait to the crumb until it slowly forms an irresistible sticky paste. The more groundbait you add, the stiffer it will be!”

PVA stick

“A great tip with Mojo is to use it in a PVA stick – this is a killer tactic for commercial anglers or specimen hunters. Mix the groundbait very dry – you could even add a X-Cite Tuna Oil – and then compress it in a funnel rig. Don’t make the sticks too long as it will vastly reduce casting.”

The Splasher

“Splasher Wagglers are a deadly method in summer months as carp feed in the upper layers. Mojo is the perfect groundbait for this attack, holding together well on the cast and then releasing an attractive trail of fishmeal particles.”
